Dear Editor,

I am frustrated when I hear officials express surprise about complaints or call them hearsay. Traffic Chief Neil Semple said persons claiming knowledge of corrupt practices must come forward and offer details and they would take action. Enough hearsay should lead to some form of investigation. He or an undercover cop could quickly find evidence if they tried hard enough.  The real problem is that there is no independent unit in Guyana capable of investigating corruption in the security forces and some other governmental areas. Police should not investigate police, nor should such an investigative unit be under the police authority.

Yours faithfully,
(Name and address provided)

One in three driver will tell you that when a police stop you, they will ask for a raise
goes like this left a towel, right or left, meaning write the ticket or left a raise, a towel is a thousand dollars.
I am sure the Traffic Chief is aware of these practices.

This has been going on long, not new news, and u r right, new day, same thing, nothing changes in Guyana where crimes are concerned, the scums have already taken over, the Government is aware of it all, the poor working class cannot say a word of complaint.

A new year is coming, I’m asking myself, who would be next, since it’s a daily printing of crimes and citizens going through pains for the lost of their lost ones.

My brother was stopped one night by two police officers, he was not speeding and all his papers were in order. He still had to give them two thousands dollars because according to them, one of his vehicle lights were not as bright as the other one. My brother has six children, is just a regular hardworking man trying to feed his children, he is not rich. So these policemen literally stole bread out of his children’s mouth because having to give them money, he couldn’t buy breakfast for his children.

I wonder why quibian would pose such a question.

Anyway, Mr West Bank got the right answer, but it is so obvious
that the question should never have been put.

Everybody knows that in all walks of life, once you complain and identify
you become marked and have consequential encounters.

      Probably not quibian, the exceptionist.

How ironic that this cute letter should appear in the Guyana Chronicle under the title of
“Frustrating to hear officials express surprise or call complaints hearsay,”
with the writer’s name as …AUGUSTUS

    My …my … my…

    Now guess what?

I wrote an almost identical letter but mine was not published!

But as I went over that letter, I wondered if it was indeed my letter but that the name AUGUSTUS was simply a replacement of mine !

I never withhold my name when I send letters to the Editor, because I think it
cowardice to want to hide under the (Name and address provided), and not
    have your name published.

However folks, there can NEVER BE AN INDEPENDENT UNIT TO LOOK INTO
    ANY WRONG DOINGS in Guyana.

    Why?

Because the independents are themselves TAINTED !!

    • Augustus UNITED STATES says:

What does it matter if full name not given in letter? The paper knows who wrote it. The issue is for ” Independent professional investigators” under independent supervision not who wrote for it. By all means take the credit. I too did not have similar letters to others not published. Keep hope alive not our ego..

There should be an Inspector General for each department in the gvernment. One appointed for the police department, another for Inland Reveue and whereever there is a need. They should investigate all abused within each department and make recommendations. We need to clean up all thedepartments of the government. We have capable indiviuals who can do this job.

  9. Unfortunately you cannot put the cat to look at the milk, because he will drink the
milk out and tell you he did not see your drank the milk, as we all know that is a wise old tale. I think they need to have a private company from abroad or some private intelligent citzens doing the investigation and then all the big Boys will be rolling around wanting to know if they will find out what they are doing and what they have done. Hook me up with the job and I will be more than happy to leave here and come back home to work. LOL, the salary have to be around half a million a month, lol.

Well, give us the name and address of who should do it then. Arrest another police.
