Bridge – Princess Street

The construction of a bridge from Princes Street across to the now defunct Guyana Broadcasting Corporation building on High Street has resulted in the flooding of yards in the immediate vicinity. According to reports, a drain was dug to divert the water away from the neighbourhood but this has proved to be insufficient since a sewerage pipe is obstructing the flow. Residents in the area say that the place has been flooded for the past four days with no sign of relief. They are desperate for something to be done, more especially since the water now has an unbearable stench. The former GBC building is expected to house the Ministry of Labour shortly.
