Residents walk across the laid out H-beams as work progresses at the site of the collapsed New Providence Bridge on Wednesday. The old wooden bridge collapsed several weeks ago when a TPL cement truck weighing almost 20 tonnes attempted to cross it. The driver of the truck Ramesh Ramratan of Friendship died while his colleague Imran Hassan suffered injuries. Rescuers had fought for hours get him from under the truck. Meanwhile, residents of New Providence still park their vehicles at the Lions Club compound at the beginning of the Mocha access road, since the collapsed bridge is their sole means of access into their community.
