The 13-year-old Charlestown girl who was reported missing last Saturday returned home last evening.
Gem Klautky returned to her Charles Street, Charlestown home around 9 pm and was taken to the hospital by police, a relative related to this newspaper.
Earlier yesterday her father Colin Klautky had informed this newspaper that several persons had called and reported that his daughter was seen at the East Ruimveldt bus park. The man said the last caller informed them that Gem was seen sitting alone in a restaurant in the West Ruimveldt back circle area.
Gem had not returned home from classes last Saturday.

I believe Stabroek News owes its readers more details surrounding the return of this child.
They can only report what is told to them either by the police or the family…
correction… i meant “young woman” instead of child
What say you? Young woman? She is THIRTEEN YEAR’s old for God’s sake Continue to sit on your throne and pontificate, pray your teenagers, if you do have any will be EXCELLENT role models!!!!!
I’ll support you here, Again I say, irregardless of her being a “problem” child, the police had a right to investigate the matter, or rather, responded more appropriately to the parent’s concern of his missing child.
And yes, the reporter who followed up on this story had a duty to gave more depth to this story.
Teenage problems and they acting out will always be with us. However, too many bad things are happening and with increasing frequency to our girl children and women and as opinion makers and shapers the media, particularly SN owe it to its readers to put some of these ills into perspective so that we, as a people can progress.
i agree
I agree that the Police’s rebuff was impolitic and clumsily delivered- however their intended point that the parents lacked parental control still holds true.
