Two men who allegedly demanded money by menace were each placed on $30,000 bail when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Mark Goring, 42, of 1050 Boyer Drive, Sophia and Collin Daniels, 27, of 321 East Street, Cummingsburg both pleaded not guilty to the charge of obtaining money by menace.
It is alleged that on March 14 at Triumph, East Coast Demerara the men demanded from Gobin Persaud the sum of $30,000 with intent to steal the same.

Attorney-at-law Emily Dodson who represented both men made an application for reasonable bail to be granted and brought to the court’s attention that the men were previously on $10,000 station bail. She further said that her clients intend to vigorously defend the matter and they will attend court to defend their good names.

Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle granted each man bail in the sum of $30,000 after the prosecution made no objection to Dodson’s application.
The matter was transferred to the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court for September 2.
