The .32 magnum revolver that was found in the possession of Sheldon Gorrick on July 28 was discovered to be licensed to a Bartica resident who was robbed in February during the Bartica massacre.
Gorrick, 27, of Third Street, Agricola had appeared before the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court last Thursday and was remanded. He was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and seven rounds of ammunition.
It is alleged that on July 28 the accused had in his possession one .32 magnum and seven rounds of ammunition without being the holder of a valid firearm and ammunition licence.
According to a police press release, investigations revealed that the firearm belonged to a miner, Chunilall Babulall, of Bartica, Essequibo whose home was attacked and robbed by armed gunmen who attacked the community during the Bartica killings on February 17, 2008.

Another good job GPF, interrogate him until he talk and give every detail of information about the plotters and doers of the massacres and then “loss he away in jail”.
The court need to set an example with these murdering beasts. The government should amend the laws on crime to extend the sentences where people would think trice before attempting to do crime…real harsh sentences, and may I suggest a “three strikes” law that gives a criminal a life sentence for three times being in jail to deter “career criminals”.
I hope this one too don’t get a chance to escape from court or jail.
I know that he shouldn’t have an unlicenced gun because he would probably use it at some point and time, but there is a possibility the gun could have been sold to him after the massacre.
Excellent work by the police. Now hopefully we will get some more information about the other elements involved in this brutal incident. Let’s hope he in not put on bail.
The three strike rule sounds like an excellent idea, but where you gon put them? In camp street hotel? That place is like a vacation for a lot of criminals. Or at the back of a prado? The govt. too busy ____ their own pockets and ____ fancy houses, that’s why they can’t be bothered to think about the safety and security of Guyanese. Maybe they should turn the stadium into a prison since it ain’t seeing any action.
There we go again… every gun found was linked to Bartica or Lusignan.
This is so worn out and tired now.
I’m sure fineman and skinny was inloved too.
Of course both Fineman and Skinny involve is dis too, dat goes without saying. I sure if yuh look round de corner yuh gun see BONEY AND MAGGA Boy hiding somewhwere too :)
Man however you look at this though, me ent k weh e get de gun from, dis man deh in a lot a trouble.
The good life, we cannot discount every find by the police as fabricated. True that they can not catch the big fish, apparently some in the force have links to the criminals and tip them off whenever there is a raid planned. But let us not discount small victories.
The political administration should stop playing ‘politics’ with the lives of ordinary Guyanese and enforce the Death Penalty, for these types of gruesome crimes and massacres, which took place in Agricola, Lusignan and Bartica.
Enforcing, the Death Penalty for these mass murders, will send a strong message to those who engineered and carried out these brutal and savage killings.
The society’s patience is ‘ worn thin’ by political platitudes and rhetoric.
If only it was that easy, we must thank North American liberals who canvass the various human rights organisations to punish Guyana Govt. on behalf of these persons, claiming they are denied due process.
You and your fellow GuyCan can start by lobbying you legislators, show them bigger picture.
where are the critics,
use all means necessary for him to talk and let the anti gog and acid critics, keep up their negative attitude, about the imaginary fine man or a 2nd gang operating.
Wow.. This guy actually lived to appear in court.. What about his cellphone records?
He has to lead the Police to more weapons and fellow bandits.. Sure he committed other crimes with this weapon.. Strike up the band, let this guy sing.. He must have had friends.. round them all up and put an end to the madness!!!!
So all this time this person and gun were in Agricola, if this is correct. Oh yes let us congratulate the incompetence of the police. While we’re at it why don’t we congratulate the government for the excellent job that they’re doing, and as I read in the Kaiteur News, let’s change the constitution and have Mr. Jagdeo as President again.
This all feels too surreal to me. When will the stars be aligned correctly?
i glad dey got da man wit da gun,i hope he don’t escape from da police 2
Sheldon Gorrick knows a lot of stuff.
We owe it to those slaughtered people to LEAVE NO STONE UNTURNED until criminal elements know they will get no sympathies.
As ALL_GT says, this man’s phone records should be a top priority and a full investigation must take place.
gtmassive
You are probably right, but it serves him right, “peter pay for paul and paul pay for all” He should not buy an unlicensed gun, and they should do as precisely as mackydog say “loss he away in jail”
