The Enterprise youth, Dennis Richards,  who reportedly suffered a sound beating on Wednesday night and died early Thursday morning  succumbed to a brain haemorrhage and a fractured skull, a post-mortem examination revealed yesterday.

The Police  made the disclosure in a statement yesterday. The police had said that Richards was involved in an incident at Melanie, East Coast Demerara on August 6 during which he was beaten by four men. This newspaper had learnt from relatives that two men were in police custody assisting with investigations.

Meanwhile, there was still deep shock at the teen’s home yesterday but the man’s relatives said they have not heard anything further from the police on the two men who are supposedly in custody.

A female relative said that she and others identified the teen’s body yesterday prior to the post-mortem at the Georgetown Hospital mortuary. She said the teen’s mother was expected in Georgetown sometime on Monday.

Three days before his death Richards had returned from Port Kaituma where he lived with his mother and worked as a labourer.

According to relatives he was at home on Wednesday night when four men came and called out to him at about 9.  Half hour after, one of his friends told the family that he had been beaten and was in an abandoned house in neighbouring Melanie.

He was rushed to the GPHC but passed away on Thursday morning.
