Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry last week remanded to prison a man accused of snatching chains from the necks of two women.
Devon Boucher pleaded not guilty to two charges of larceny from the person when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
According to the prosecution on August 11, Keisha Stanton was walking along a street when Boucher snatched a gold chain from her neck and ran. The prosecution said he had just been released from the Brickdam Police Station after a man from whom he’d stolen on August 5 declined to pursue the matter. Boucher is also accused of snatching a chain from the neck of Derry Anne Nickles while she was in a minibus. The conductor and other persons pursued and apprehended him.

The prosecution told the court that while Boucher has never been convicted of a crime he is known to the court. Further, the prosecution asked that bail be refused on the grounds that there is a likelihood that he would commit similar offences.
Boucher was ordered to appear in Court Two on August 25.
