A 28-year-old actress who allegedly presented a forged CSEC certificate to the Ministry of Health was placed on $200,000 bail when she appear-ed before the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Sonia Yarde of Lot 4 Norton Street, Georgetown was before Magistrate Priya Beharry facing charges of uttering a forged document and conspiracy to commit a felony.
It is alleged that on July 23 with intent to defraud, Yarde uttered a forged Caribbean Secondary Examination Certificate (CSEC) to the Ministry of Health, purporting to show that she had obtained grade twos in Biology and Caribbean History and grade ones in English Language, Principles of Business and Social Studies.
Further, it is alleged that between January 1, 1996 and July 31 last year she conspired to forge the said CSEC certificate.
Magistrate Beharry granted Yarde bail in the sum of $100,000 on each charge. The matter is to continue on September 24.

and so many of us wonder how come Roger Khan got permission from the government to import computer bugging phone devices. Any document can be had with anybody’s signature in Guyana, even Rohee’s.
Sometimes I really wonder how we can easily be carried away and when we do realize our huge mistake nothing can be done to prevent it.
We should always think THRICE before acting.Hope others have learnt a lesson.
forgery is one thing, but lets look at those Guyanese who are resorting to obah to achieve what they covet, even harming those that extended a clean positive hand to help them because the recognize their country man and woman short comings. here we must address repercussions for i know the law will react against retaliation but there is no law against iniquity but god laws, therefore society should condemn iniquity workers and let them realize that they will be put to death when founded out.
Guyanese and friends of Guyanese, you are so upset about an actress being dishonest, I hope you will be looking at the leaders you choose to run your country come election time, there is where the greatest dishonesty begins and is just passed down to the small man. An actress is of little importance in the bigger picture of our nations lack of real progress and the crimes committed. Do we all preform honestly on our jobs daily, do we all earn our days pay, are we all as honest as we need to be….awe ga fo look at dem stones.
THIS JUST PROVES TO WHAT EXTENT GUYANESE ARE FORCED TO GO IN ORDER TO SUCCEED. THOUGH I MAY NOT AGREE TO HER METHOD, OF ADVANCING HERSELF, IT IS QUITE UNDERSTANDABLE THAT THE YOUNG WOMAN CAN OFFER A VERY GOOD CONTRIBUTION TO HER COMMUNITY EVEN IF SHE DOES NOT POSSESS THE REQUIRED ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS. BUT, IN SOCIETIES WHERE PASSION, DETERMINATION AND A GENUINE WILLINGNESS TO SERVE OFTEN GETS OVERRULED BY ACADEMIA, YOUNG PEOPLE ARE TAUGHT TO BELIEVE THAT FAILING CXCs IS THE END OF ONE’S CAREER.
While I can express some understanding to your blog, I must say the true path to success is long and sometimes tough, there are no short cuts. I have had academic failure in my early life, but i had passion and the ambition to succeed and with that I am where I am today after years of hard work and sacrifice. Sorry that the young lady got side tracked, but there are many others I am sure like her even in leadership positions unfortunately. They should also investigate forged passports and drivers licence a racket in which the LAW ENFORCERS are involved.
Bloggers get a grip of yourself….who wouldn’t do whatever to get whereever?
Looking forward to hearing some useful comment…
Just leave her along and get on with your life.
I can’t change some things in my life such as where I was born, my parents, siblings, blood relatives and things I have done for starters. That is to say I am a GUYANESE whether I like it or not and won’t be ashamed of it.
This young lady shouldn’t have been charged yet. Crime Chief take note: There are many more of these lurking around and lotsa big fish can be caught. You should’ve waited and investigated some more. You may even have been able to get some names from this young lady!
Yes ankoko, we can’t change some things in our lives such as where we were born etc;
You are saying that because there are others who probably have committed
an identical offence and have not been caught as yet, her charge should await such discoveries.
Not a strong position ankoko
As and when discoveries are made, then charges would follow.
There is no need to wait until “a whole catch” is made.
Remember the US Visa changes?
It was primarily because Guyanese had MASTERED THE ART OF FORGERY;
And while I am it, the folks at the Land Registry coud give a land title deed
once you could identify the land and the fact that the owner had migrated !!
Tek dat !
