wounded Corwin Mars. On that same day it is alleged that Peter Lam, 19, conspired with Yaw to commit robbery under arms. Lam of MM Bent Street was charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and he  pleaded not guilty.

According to reports, at about 2 pm on the day in question Yaw  went to the Linden car park area to conduct surveillance. There he saw the virtual complainant (VC) who is a taxi driver in McKenzie and collected his cellular phone number to arrange for a pick-up. Later at about 10 pm Yaw contacted the VC and asked him to pick him up from Greenheart Street.

After driving for sometime, reports stated,  Yaw asked the man to stop near a bushy area on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway and requested that he help him to search for a bag there. Mars followed the accused into the area and Yaw who was allegedly armed with a handgun discharged two rounds hitting the VC on the left side of his head and the left side of his chest. Yaw then allegedly made off with the man’s car.

The prosecution informed the court that the VC is at present in the Georgetown Public Hospital in a serious condition with a bullet lodged next to his heart.

Lam’s attorney told the court that his client is innocent and did not at anytime conspire with Yaw to commit a crime. According to the attorney, his client has a strong alibi as he was at home on the night of the alleged robbery and several persons who spoke to him are willing to attest to this.

However, the prosecution said that prior to the robbery Lam had met with Yaw and the two conspired to commit the said offence. Further, the prosecution stated that Lam was arrested in Linden.

Both men were refused bail and they have to appear at the Christianburg Magi-strate’s Court on September 16.

    • Ricardo UNITED STATES says:

Sure you still working hard, and decay in morals has not caused you to turn the other way.
We have a mind of our own and its for us to choose between right and wrong
Do not blame the society for the crimes persons “choose to commit”
When persons blame the decay in morals and the society as a reason for the commission of crime I remember quite clearly one youth namely “Carmichael Thorne born and grew in Albouystown who was Guyana’s top achiever in 1997.
Work hard and honestly for what you want.
