The Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce yesterday commended Police Commissioner (ag) Henry Greene and Commodore Gary Best, for their leadership of the Joint Services in bringing the hunt for Rondell ‘Fineman’ Rawlins to an end.
In a press release, the Chamber of Commerce saluted “those who put their lives on the line as they engaged Fineman and his accomplices. The aerial and other material support given by the government including Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee, to the Joint Services is also lauded”.
It further pointed out that “the battle against Fineman has been won, but the war on crime continues”.
Rawlins and Jermaine `Skinny’ Charles who were accused of a number of serious crimes were killed during a confrontation with ranks in an unfinished concrete structure in Kuru Kururu last Thursday. Hours earlier, Seon Grant was killed at a shack in the Timehri Squatting Area. It is believed that Charles and Rawlins had earlier fled the shack traversing swampy lands and thick bush, before the lawmen caught up with them several miles away in Kuru Kururu on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway.
it is believed that fineman was not killed by the joint services, he took his own life.
Next you gon say de fineman was a myth. Oh yeah!!, you said he was, not so long ago.
Now that fine man is caught, we need to go after those other criminals on the loose. We also need to tighten up on the way police do their jobs like making sure that the prisoners and their case files end up in front of the Magistrate who is trying the cases, and on the same day of the case.
