A security guard appeared before Magistrate Taijnarine Persaud yesterday charged with the theft of two firearms, a quantity of ammunition and cash from a West Coast Berbice man last month.

A police release said that Philbert Kellowan was remanded to prison when he appeared at the Blairmont Magistrate’s Court on a charge of break and enter larceny.

It is alleged that Kellowan, 48, robbed Nasurdeen Mohamed of $6,067,900 cash in foreign and local currency as well as two guns and 200 rounds of ammunition, sometime between September 14 and September 22 this year.

Kellowan will return to court on October 6.
