Antonio Dawson of 42 Melanie Damishana, East Coast Demerara pleaded not guilty to impersonating a police officer.

It is alleged that on September 30, Bhagwandin Nandlall was proceeding north along the Avenue of the Republic when Dawson who was walking in the opposite direction, stopped and told him that he was a policeman. Dawson then informed Nandlall that he had committed a traffic offence on Croal Street and said that he was taking him to the police station. However, Dawson allegedly took Nandlall under a building, where he instructed him to go to the bank and withdraw a quantity of cash. It was while Nandlall was resisting doing so that a police mobile patrol vehicle passed by and officers saw the two arguing. A policeman from the vehicle enquired what the problem was and was informed by Nandlall that Dawson had said he was a policeman.

Dawson was arrested and taken to the police station where it was confirmed that he was not a member of the force.

However Dawson’s lawyer stated that his client was a former member of the City Constabulary and had not shown Nandlall any documents stating that he was a policeman and at that time he was wearing civilian clothing.

Magistrate Robertson-Ogle then placed Dawson on bail of $50,000 and ordered that he appear in Court Two on November 7.

    • evileyes CANADA says:

oh man…you know what you saying….its ok for them to bully but when they are bullied here in canada they call it “racism”

  2. evileyes CANADA says:

Fake cop? ehehehe…..hes lucky he didnt get a licking… he might get it in the near future….a sound licking will take the idea out of his head that he is not a cop…..

  3. BIRDMAN UNITED STATES says:

I have no idea where these lawyers are trained.
The man was a FORMER member of the city constabulary..” FORMER.”
That means he is no” LONGER.” a constable or policeman.
How then can you say he did not present his DOCUMENTS?, he has NONE.
How could you say he was dressed as a civillian.
THAT’s THE WAY HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE DRESSED.
HE IS NO LONGER A CONSTABLE. Dont you get it?
HE is a flipping thief. ( until proven guilty).
Because you’re a lawyer, you take any kind of case, and present any kind of excuse. Yes he is supposed to be represented, for not with an excuse like this.
    Put on your thinking cap.
Remember if you were a cop, and now you’re not, and you present yourself as a cop,” NOW,” YOU ARE IMPERSONATING A COP.
This is a clear cut case of impersonating a policeman.

  4. Arnold VENEZUELA says:

Oh ya ya yai!! This criminal should not be given bail, they pick their vulnerables very fast by bullying them and forcing them to give them easy money.
So lucky that a mobile patrol was passing and the Bastard could be caught.
Aah, Ok!! BAIL and then JAIL. for 5 years…

  5. sheik UNITED STATES says:

This is stupidity to the max. This impersonator should be jailed for life.Is he a Guyanese?

  6. amen-ra UNITED STATES says:

Lol what a joke, this guy is real foolish to impersonate a police officer he should be given a long prision sentence so others who think about doing this would think twice if they should attemp to impersonate a police officer, I think others may have done this before and innocent citizen became victim of this practice, i’m glad he’s caught.

  7. berryl BARBADOS says:

what is really happening? i am glad that the man did not take out his money from the bank to pay any bribes. this is something that the cops usually do and people normally pays. they should make him an example and let him feel the full weight of the law.

    • alexmarcos GUYANA says:

Indeed true. Some cops take bribe, instead of serving their duty. Most drivers prefer to pay less than a speeding ticket and some cops prefer bribe especially when they are bluffing an arrest. I had an experience once. I know the two cops. This, I believe, is adequate enough to say that Guyana is indeed corrupted!

  8. onepeople UNITED STATES says:

WHY WHY no prison sentence? How could you bail an impersonator please jail his lawyer too for making up such a foolish excuse, jail the judge also for putting him on bail.

  9. slimsuave UNITED STATES says:

  10. UltimateW CANADA says:
