What is going on in Guyana is going on all over the world.I remember growing up in mabaruma which today i compare with peaton place, quiet and nice, I no longer live there but still have the best memories of mabaruma, why can’t the goverment do something good to proctect them and protect the youths of tomorrow. Guyanese fight for your children please.

What is going on in Guyana today? It’s been awhile since i left, however i still remember that neighbors used to look out for each other, however it seems to me that in the present I’m gonna do me, you do you mentality, citizens are allowing things to get way way out of control. In which Guyana do we allow these scum bags to rape children? Guyanese fight for your children please.

No Torbo…they are far from visionless!!! They have a clear vision for that area which fits quite neatly in to their vision for making things right for themselves….and not necessarily for the average Guyanese. You see, it is in the PPP’s interest to maintain a state of disorder along our Western borders. Why?… you may ask. Because there is a lot of “interborder trade” taking place in those areas which benefit in a primary way its wealthy supporters. If law and order were to be established in those areas these “activities” as we know them would have to cease..or a lot of people would end up in jail !!! Ole people say…….”talk haf an lef haf !! “

Growing up at Mabaruma in the North West during the sixties I have very vivid memories of how the community reacted to two incidents. In the first, a young man was stabbed in the neck with a chisel which fortunately was not fatal. The whole village was horrified that we could inflict such a terrible wound on our collective psyche though such a dastardly act. In the other, a girl was sexually assaulted by an older male in the village. We were mortified but the village had no choice but to drag itself forward under the collective shame we all felt at the rape of her, and our irretrievable innocence! We seem to have lost that sense of community in the NWD where we all looked out for and protected each other! What a shame!

It seems that David C., and I, both from the North West, now have to submit our relief efforts for its residents, of social philantrophy and political engineering to the more fundamental imperative of seeking security and safety for residents of the NWD. What is ominous to me however is the fact that the cancer which has its modern genesis in Buxton now seems to have spread itself to other parts of the country!

I wonder if Central Government realises the gravity of this situation, vis-a-vis, our natural security interests? If the North West District is allowed to go the way of the Buxton/Annandale hotspot we could be providing the Venezuelans the opportunity for which they are looking to intervene in the internal affairs of this region (and our country ! ) in the name of “protecting their citizens rights”. There are dozens of born Venezuelans, of Guyanese parentage, who now live in the NWD. Notwithstanding the fact that this group also happens to be Guyanese by virtue of their parentage, the Venezuelans will not hesitate to protect their citizens if she feels that their well-being is threatened in any way. It would be wise for Mr. Jagdeo to crush the lawlessness now displayed by this gang, hunt them down and bring them to justice. This situation has more serious implications for our national interests than the Buxton situation could ever dream to present!

I was never ‘unthankful’ for my education attained whilst living in Guyana.
I was expressing what some people feel when they make plans to visit the home land. Infact, I do encourage my friends to go regardless of the situation over there.
As I told Gopie – I go there on vacation every year. You cannot live your life in fear. Fear nothing but fear itself! …I am concerned about my friends living there though.

One ex- police man told me that when he was in the Mazaruni area , investigating a murder case, a young man came forward to him asked him if he wanted a gun to buy not realizing that he was a cop. “Hey Gtman you wan a gun to buy?”
He said that he ignored his offer/him having a unlicenced gun because that was not what he was send to do.
Well here it was that a person who was paid to enforce the law ingored unlawfullness. What you think the people in the area must think -especially the young – that it’s okay to go across to Venezuela/Brazil to buy a gun and have it in their possession unlicenced/for sale. Mind you this wasn’t a recent story. So over those years similar situations have been allowed to grow and become out of control.
Once in the early 80’s I read that a cop arrected a suspect for a couple grams of ‘weed’ when he was observed coming out from a well known drug dealer .
Here it was again that police ignored the root of a problem and deal only with the ’symtom’.
These are some of the things that made people loose respect for lawenforcement officers.
Well who am I to touch on these matters that are already rot? If a magistrate who supposed to up hold law can trample upon it then who else wouldn’t?

Listen up everyone, if the 911 phone and ploice station JUST ACROSS THE RIVER is not is not answering and is closed, what makes you think that something will be done all the way in NWD.People wise up, and underastand that this govt. can care less about whose is being mloested and rob.Icompitency goes a long way if the head of an organisation is weak and has no guts to stand up to any wrong doings, who else in that organisation will take the reigns,no one, they all will follow him.Guyana is a free for all nation,if you don’t have a green dollar to give, you would’nt get anything done. And the blogger is right, if Fineman and Skinny were not killed, you bet your last dollar they would have been blamed for this.
