ATIS – waa duh – Timehri have no ATIS!!

And they can’t talk to Timehri from where they were unless they have a HF radio which I doubt they had. When you have an accident caused by CFIT – you don’t really have time to cakll anyone anyway – it just happens so fast!!

IT’S A U.S. PART 135 OPERATION, SO THE CAPTAIN OF A TURBOPROP WILL HAVE A COMMERCIAL INSTRUMENT RATING AT A MINIMUM WITH MULTI ENGINE LAND FOR THE KING AIR. A COPILOT IS NOT REQUIRED BY REGULATION FOR THE KING AIR IF IT HAS A WORKING AUTOPILOT. COMPANY POLICY FOR THE TYPE OF LOW LEVEL SURVEY FLYING MAY HAVE DICTATED THAT THEY HAVE A COPILOT.

The deck is stacked against them that’s for sure. If it turns out to be a CFIT and they survived the initial impact; I’m sure they sustained injuries which after almost a week , based on the degree of their injuries might probably decrease the odds of survival.

I’m hoping that’s not the outcome.

I know it is not easy for the relatives and friends of the people aboard the aircraft deemed lost. This sort of thing happens all the time. Nothing is impossible, and since we don’t know what happened, let’s wait and see, and pray.

My roommates and good friends have known the pilot (James Wesley Barker) for many years. School, personal life, etc……I pray these men are alive and maintaining composure under the conditions they are in. This was certainly not their first trip through a terrain similar to this as they conduct the same studies all over the world. Please pray for the men, the families and friends who are nervously awaiting any word on the search. It is difficult for those who must sit 3-4 thousand miles away and helplessly wait.

ELT stands for Emergency Locator Transmitter, SAR measn Search and Rescue, CFIT means Controlled Flight into Terrain, which means that the aircraft was flying normally when it crashed. SYCJ is the identifier of Guyana’s international airport. S means South(south America) Y is the country’s identifier, and CJ is for Cheddi Jagan, VFR stands for Visual Flight Regulations. I hope this helped. Normally before flight the ELT is activated(this is if the aircraft has an ELT on board), should it crash, the ELT arms itself and sends out a signal on a given frequency which can be captured by other radio systems tuned to capture that signal.

Lion..having read your previous post,I know exactly what you are talking about,I lost a lot of money when I went out of business in Guyana as well,and it is so discouraging when you cannot invest in your own country,and when you lose you have no way of getting back what is lost,I think that is the worse thing about the country now…..if you are an honest business person you cannot make it,the only way is to get involved in corruption…..yes,who felt it knows it!!!

in the 60 a plane get stock a tree they could not take it down

the bodys could not be removed,

these turbo props are not that fast. minimum speed is 125 grownd speed. They cruise on mission like this between 140 and 170 knotts.

These were not your average pilots. They had been flying down there before. Planes like that are also equiped with equipment called radio altimeters. This could very well have been a failure of power or loss of control. These are hard time for the families and all we can do is wish the best for the 3 on board
