Minibus operators do what they do because the travelling public allow them to! Don’t travel in overloaded buses, don’t pay exorbitant fares. They need you just as much as you need them. Paying passengers must call the tunes.

Bring back the BIG BUSES, for far too long it has been the travelling public who are suffering the most.
All this nonsense the minibus operators are complaining about, GPL,VAT and GWI. What does these have to do with this.
And those touts ,do you know that touts are paid as much as $2500 when a bus leaves the park?
This is then passed on to the commuters and yet the operators are refusing to drop the fares.

These mini bus operators are very unreasonable. It was understandable when fares were increased because the price of gasolene went up but the government has now stabilised the cost of gasolene countrywide. The gasolene price is dropped and its time for these mini bus operators to comply.

How does GPL, GWI and VAT come into play here. These mini bus operators are deliberating missing the point. All customers of GPL and GWI pay GPL and GWI bills too,coupled with VAT on many items bought. YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE GREEDY. We all have to live. BE REASONABLE AND STOP EXPLOITING THE MAN AT THE BOTTOM (ordinary citizens).

That’s what administrators do they demand & enforce penalties when the demands are not met. Madministrations take a different approach. My dad never asked me if I wanted to fetch water, he told me to. If I didn’t my butt was made to feel the penalties, a thin leather strap did the trick.

The bus operators will drop the fares, but they will now overload even more to compensate. The commuters will continue to suffer.

Guyana Public Transportation Association (GPTA) you people are very unfare to the public…you sound like greedy people who care only for yourselves. There was an agreement between yourselves and the government, to reduce the bus fares, if the price of gas went down. Why can’t you honor that.

Think of your fellow guyanese and relieve them of the burden of paying so much for bus fares…they will thank you.

Exactly why we need public(big buses) transportation!! When the gas price went up without hesitation the bus operators demanded an increase so i think it is only fair that they revert to the price before the increase.

The bus operators are pretty much a law unto themselves!!!

The minibus drivers & conductors are working for TAX FREE dollars besides that they still want four persons to sit in a seat.This nonsense must stop i advise all commuters to make sure they have change to pay the bus men.

Implement a passenger hotline, and the defaulters to pay a fine for first offence, the second jail/fine, the third seize/jail/fine.

These people are simply greedy. Unless people refuse to pay the fares and are supported I agree with John, minibus operators will contonue to get away with this crap. Why can’t there be some real regulation governing fares, rather than this adhoc crap?

These mini bus operators are unreasonable. How do GWI and GPL bills come into play here? That is not the issue. All customers have to pay those bills too, coupled with VAT for items bought.

Your major concern was the rise in gasolene price which resulted in an increase in fares. Now that the government ensures a reduction in gasolene cost, it is reasonable to drop your price. DON’T YOU THINK YOU ARE TOO GREEDY NOW?

You do not have to buy spare parts every day. So, that argument lacks substance. Be good citizens and reduce your price. The man at the bottom(ordinary citizens) should not be exploited. We all have to live.

I am not suprised, this has been happening all the time. The fares are raised because of fuel and then fuel price reduces and the fares never reflect that. I am not holding my breath on this one.

It doesn’t matter if it drops or not i am not paying anymore $80 and $100 dollars to go anywhere and these views were expressed by many other consumers…..the bus operators on the other hand are complaiining that no suh nonsense will happen. Be prepared for a strike

It goes to show that some Guyanese are very greedy and are not willing to give a helping hand to those in need, just think how hard it is for many single parents.

In America, the price for gas has dropped significantly and on Wall Street yesterday the price for a barrel of oil had dropped 7% on fears of demand.
