A mechanic who is accused of having carnal knowledge of a fourteen-year-old girl was remanded to prison yesterday when he appeared before Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Twenty-year-old Brian Beverley of Lot 34 Little Diamond, Squatting Area was not required to plead to two indictable charges of carnal knowledge of a girl under fifteen.

It is alleged that between September 1 and 3, Beverley had carnal knowledge of a fourteen-year-old girl.

It is also alleged that between November 2 and 3, Beverley again had carnal knowledge of the same girl.

The girl’s mother who was also present in court stated that “she (her daughter) wan marry” and she may not proceed with the case.

The magistrate subsequently ordered that Beverley be remanded to prison and transferred the case to the Providence Magistrate’s Court for November 14.

    The girl is only 14 years old…..the minute she said anything about marriage she should have been eating teeth……..study ya blasted book……..try to becaome a nurse or something …..you studying

    The mechanic ought to be ashamed of himself…….bro the girl is only 14….she cannot force you to have sex, its you who had to ask……..if she did force you, you should have said NO…..and wait on for a few more years.

      The news papers do not give the fulness of these stories, so I do not think our pronouncements is very fair to this youngman.I think there is more to this story since the mother made this statement, she should relate the fullness of this story to save this Very young man from jail.I do not think he was aware of the consequences in this love affair.The point here to look at is that he did not rape her.Suppose she fool the boy with her age now?

    Boyfriend and girlfriend who planned to marry…he is six years her senior,they should wait a few years before getting serious….then it would’nt be a crime,many married couples met and fell in love at that age!!!

    She might eventualy let a child molester go free to molest other young girls….

    I believe he should face the law–getting married is trying to circumvent the law so as not to feel the books thrown at him-he should also be charged with witness tmpering since i am sure someone contact the girl and her family with his knowledge to buy justive in a tactful manner
    The mother should br charhed for obstruction of justice and failure to protect the welfare of a child

      wonderful Paul, this guy should spend the next 30 years in jail, and mom 2 years for obstruction of justice, the child should go to welfare and properly taken care of.

    Regardless of how old he is than her… she is still a minor and cannot consent to such acts… as for the mother….she should be ashamed of her self….
    SandHurst First you are right.. she sure would have lost a lot of teeth if I was her mother… I hope the police and court system go forward with the case .
