In reply to the above comment. This is just my suggestion and I wouldn’t expect the authorities to agree with everything suggested.However, it’s definitely some FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

good suggestion sir, but tell me, if i handed in a weapon and the authorities later discovered that it was used in the slayings of the victims of the lusignan and bartica murders, are you saying that i get $100,000 for turning in this weapon and i go scotts free no question ask????, then those people all died in vain, i quess.

I agree…..people will eventually see what is right under their noses,I always felt that the Bartica attack was done by a gang from across the border,it resemble that incident that you mention in your post!!!

The Brazilians are also asking where the guns are coming from. The bandits here have guns that make the police run. They robbed a police station day before yesterday, they took all the drugs, all the arms, and then blew up the station. Brazil makes guns. But the guns these fellows use are imported. I do think a lot of the hand guns in Guyana are from Brazil.

How did the killers know that Piggot was going to drop his friend off before going home? They were parked there waiting.

Also, I’ve been told that there are more white cars than other colors in Guyana.

Perhaps the GPF can get those kids who play ‘Police and Thieves’ to assist them in solving this and other unsolved crimes.

Coming from Suriname with that thing…..not being a very “big businessman”….he was not supposed to have all that money. He should have left the money in Suriname for the “clothes”. He came back with the “clothes” and money. Seems like greed.
Just a phone call and the contractors are waiting for his arrival.

To quote a singer ” Too many guns in de land and every day yo open de paper all that yo read is murder.Man, deh go kill each other fo fun” Now this government can reduce these gun crimes by 90% if they really want to.Sometimes I ask myself if those in authority are really serious about fighting these crimes or it’s a situation where they really don’t know what to do.The following is my suggestion.

(1) That the government declare a six months Amnesty for all illegal weapons be turned into the authority.

(2)That a special unit be established to deal with the collection of all illegal weapons since persons may be afraid to turn in theirs to the police.

(3) That a monetary reward be of $100,000 be given to every one who turns in an illegal weapon.

(4) That those turning in these weapons be exempted from all prosecution even if the weapon was found to be used in a previous crime.

(5) That the sum of $100,000 be available by way of cheque immediately after turning in an illegal weapon.

(6) That at the end of this period a certified list of all weapons collected be published.

(7) That a special court be established to deal with gun crimes only thereby reducing the long delay in court cases.

(8) That the possession of an illegal firearm carries the only penalty of (50) fifty years in jail which cannot run concurrently.

(9) That the possession of an illegal firearm is not bailable.

(10) That robbery under arms carries the a penalty of (100 ) one hundred years in jail with parole after serving (90) ninety years.

Crime prevention or reduction must always be seen as serious business and requires Draconian laws to deter persons from even thinking of committing them.

The hope that crime is decreasing is more than the reality. Can’t the Ministry of Home Affairs stop this gun crime. Are these guns coming from Brazil, Venezuela and Suriname. Border control is unquestionably necessary.

where there is drugs there is guns……where was he comin from surinam i think the have more drugs than guyana/colombia put together ….this guy had to be doin bad business……2 weeks ago a police in surinam was kill at a check point and the found his car trunk full of drugs……walk and sell vendor plz say something that make sense ……do u mean to say that he sold his killer a pants/shirt that was damage and he lost his life…..ppl wearin pants/shirt with holes in it thats a style all over……even if the cars were ….green…blue….black….brown….it don’t make any difference ….this is a paid hit …..R.I.P Alicia Foster

Too much of crime all the time. I visit Guyana on a regular basis, now I am scared to visit with so much killings going on. Senseless killing! The police force needs to do much more policing, too much of innocent people are dying. Get the low-life off the street of Guyana,and try to make the place a little safer. They have nothing positive to offer to society. They are all nuisance to their society. Just like the US have elected a new govt for change. That also need to be done in Guyana. Guyana needs a change when its comes leadership and goverment. The govt in Guyana is too corrupt, get rid of all of then and that would be a positive change. MOST OF ALL GET CONTROL OF THE DRUG ACTIVITY AND THAT FOR ONE WILL BE MORE THAN A CHANGE.
