now further subjugated by a racist and uncaring government. The end result is a

very angry people who tend to have no problem solving or critical thinking skills. All

Anyhow the chickens have come home to roost for this govt will go down as one

well it is not peaceful anymore . Criminals are everywhere in our society . Hopetown was a place that had some notorious bandits about 5 -10 yrs ago –maybe you were not living there then .

There seems to be a culture of corruption and lawlessness at all levels of the society, especially, at the political and administrative.
Ordininary folks are affected and influnced in their behaviour, by what is being practice by those in authority ; corruption and criminality, have become a norm in the daily business dealings and interaction of Guyanese.
Routinely, travelling in a mini bus, one may experience the almost open and illegal practice of bribery of policemen ( towel ).
There is the breakdown of law and order in almost every village and township across the country, with almost daily reports of violence; choppings, stabbings, shootings, manslaughter , murder etc; especially, in a situations where there are no law enforcement officers or policemen.
There needs to be a serious change in the manner in which the society is being managed !

If you do go back, be careful. I spend a lot of time back home and I can tell you SOME people in GY are like demons these days. Any little misunderstanding can lead to somebody bleeding. Getting justice from police stations or the courts often Co$t you and still, you fell deprived of it……… I’ve seen a road accident victim being robbed of his possessions while unconscious and bleeding; this is to show you the compassionate side of some….. Oh and if you are planning to buy a house from one of those Realtors in GT don’t let them know you’re from overseas or the price might more than triple. Just giving you a heads up!!

poor uneducated people will always react to minor issues with violence and that will never change.so that is ur answer for those who don’t understand stand why the violence.Also there is also 2 sides to a story let’s find out what was done to the brother.molestion,robbery or other things might deserve to get ur hand chopped off.

I was born in Hopetown, and i am shocked to hear that this would happen there, I was there last July, and i really enjoyed my stay in Fort Wellington,,,, This is a peaceful and loving village where people are all family and really do love each other.

It’s obvious we have a serious crisis in Guyana .
when it’s not the bandits , it’s somebody in your street , your husband or your son-in-law, that’s beating you or killing you !

Have we reached our lowest low ? or is there more deploration to come ?

Whatever happened to those religious organisations that used to have open air crusades , preaching about the higher power and about morals ? They make enough money , so they stop the crusades ? Eh ?

Reminds me of the popular one they have in Queenstown , he only has to open his mouth and they whole congregation falling down flat .

My point , why can’t these power filled people go out into the community and help these young ones from turning into killers .

Only the higher power knows !

Young boi, that is the same question that is going through my mind. Why is his attacker is still on the loose? Everyone in Guyana these days are turning to violence to settle disputes. Everyday you can read about rape, domestic violence, robbery, murder, under aged consuming alchol & the listt goes on & on. Does no one has any fear for the almighty? I am sorry for the state of affairs of my beloved Guyana. I was thinking of relocating back to my homeland, but now i am having second thoughts.
