YOU SEE AS A HEALTH PERSONNEL, I HAVE SEEN THAT MOST OF THE ACCIDENTS, ASSAULTS SUICIDES AND ATTEMPTED MURDERS ARE THE RESULT OF ALCOHOL OR ILLEGAL DRUGS. IS NOT THIS A WASTE OF OUR RESCOURCES?

The people are the ones who are sick and are behaving like beasts. Guyana is just a countryand therefore the country cannot be sick. I have to defend my country even though things has become chaotic and lawless. Guyana has and continue to produce great people. It is just that all of the talent is moving out of Guyana, getting educated and folks refused to return back to their roots.

what about the fellows who beat the man up savagely? so do we attack and blame “chutney music” when we do not even know what type of music was being played. Again why do victims have to be victimized over again and over again when the realy culprit are the ones who committed the crime. Just because he was playing his music regardless of the type does not give them the right to beat him u. Everyone seems to have lost their mind.

Joanne – right on! You could not have written your response better. It’s funny to read this blog and the comments. The man’s rights were violated. As I said in a previous blog” Look….forget about the abuse going on in the Corrections System in Georgetown, bring back the whip…. whip these fools, give them the lash! Forfeit their lives if they take a life. Build a new prison in the interior…..let these fools work for their meals nothing free. Work them everyday 5-6 breaking rocks or work them in the sand pits. Let them experience the real prison life … that it’s not a revolving door. If you commit a crime you will pay. Govement make an example of a few with long long sentences, then drop lashes on them. Break these fools…make life hard for them behind those walls. When they realize the jail is not a bed of roses, they will think about committing bodily harm or any crimes against humanity. Whip them…bring back the tail!

Bodily harm against anyone, regardless of the circumstances needs to be dealth with severly. Forget about compensation. Give them the whip!

Sometimes when I hear about all the crime, corruption, etc. etc. happening in Guyana or when I visit Guyanese chat sites and read some of the very racist comments there….. I become very disillusioned about my motherland and say that I don’t want to EVER go back there…..

BUT when circumstances beyond my control make me return to Guyana….., I end up not wanting to leave the land of my birth to return to this life I have here in N. America.

The moment the plane touches down in Guyana, I begin to feel so prooooud, so haaaappy to be in my homeland, I smiiiiiiiiile from ear to ear! Everyone I meet in my beautiful Guyana is friendly and helpful! Everyone lives in racial harmony…. none of the B***S*** and name calling I see on chat sites!

I feel extremely proud to see all the development, all the beautiful houses and shopping areas going up, etc. etc. AND SURE, it makes my heart bleed to see some things which shouldn’t be there in the 21st Century…… but we as Guyanese, especially the ones overseas, who can help out in any way….. please do so…. it is for the betterment of our children in Guyana.

Organize small groups (within your families, workplace, places of worship, etc.) and sponsor a school, place of worship, village, community, ORPHANAGE) in your homeland. We will all benefit in the end.

For those of you who bad mouth Guyana, I am sure you haven’t been back in a loooooooooooooong while. Return for a visit. Stay at a hotel downtown if you have no close relatives. Of course, don’t dress up to the nines or act like YOU are IT! Exercise care and caution, same as you would do in any part of the world you choose to visit. Be nice and niceness will follow you.

There is nothing to make you feel prouder than a visit to YOUR country!!! (And as my best friend told me…… when you have to go, you have to go)…. so don’t live LIFE being afraid!

I LOVE MY GUYANA! I LOVE ALL MY GUYANESE PEOPLE! I am honored to be GUYANESE!!!
