There is no evidence that an AK-47 rifle was used in the murder of carpenter Vikesh Budhram of Foulis, East Coast Demerara, police said in a press statement last evening.

Further, the police press release stated that Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh had performed a post-mortem examination on the body of Budhram yesterday and the cause of death was given as shock and haemorrhage due to gun shot injury.

The release also staated that traces of powder burns were discovered on the man’s neck during the examination. According to the police, this suggests that he was shot at close range and they are concerned about this.

The press release was sent in response to an article captioned ‘Carpenter executed in bed with AK-47”, which was carried in Monday’s edition of the Kaieteur News. Since the publication of the article, police stated, members of the public have been contacting the force to express their “concern and alarm.

“While it has been confirmed that a 7.62 x 39 calibre spent shell and warhead were recovered at the scene, this calibre of ammunition can be used in various other types of firearms in addition to the AK-47,” the police said.

Further, the police stressed that no one saw what type of firearm/s the perpetrator/s were carrying and ballistics tests are still being conducted on the warheads.
Budhram was murdered on Saturday night while sleeping.

Kaieteur News always with their over exaggerated headlines just to sell a newspapers….and when you do read the articles in most cases, the story is shorter that a 2 inch nail.

If it was indeed that a 7.62 x 39 shell was found, then it could possibly mean that either an AK or M-70 was used and why would a killer use a weapon of this type to kill a man with a single shot?? Why use such a large weapon and where they getting all these guns from??

WHERE THEY GETTING ALL THESE GUNS FROM???…….and i will ask again……

WHERE THEY GETTING ALL THESE GUNS FROM???

Exactly, when this story first came out the pervasive smell of fish stank up the place. Not ‘the usual suspects’(Fineman &Skinny)at all.

    • GTRL CANADA says:

Yes, the M70 also use the 7.62×39 ammunition, but I find it strange to believe that a family member would go out and rent a big long rifle to carry out an execution when smaller hand guns are easily available, together with other tools that are easily available right there in the house.

A Carpenter was killed in that style, so suspicious a manner, probably has another episode.

  5. GTRL CANADA says:

Then the police should say precisely what other rifles use the 7.62×39 ammunition. A locally made pipe gun? This is unlikely. Could it have been an M16? Nope! What about the SKS assault rifles? Besides the AK47, the SKS assault rifles also use the 7.62×39 ammunition, and both of these rifles are possessed by the military of Guyana (correct me if I am wrong here) and the gangs, such as the gang that was operating out of Buxton and Agricola. I am still waiting on them to solve this one.

this story stinks to high heaven.i may be wrong but i suspect this guy was shot with another gun and a 7.62×39 casing was placed instead of the real one. the 7.62×39 is only used in ak and sks types of rifles. the m70 uses a short version of the 7.62.

gun accidents do happen….like the one the other day in kitty…he shot himself accidently and told police bandits shot he while he was leaving his house to go sell money…..he could not say he had an illegal gun…ehehehehehehehehehe

I also support the idea that something is fishy about this story. They (police) should take a good look at the other half of Mr. Budhram, I mean a real good look.

And yes lets keep “Fine Skin” out of this.

You smart guys are getting close to the fire, be careful.
