My point exactly,,,the businessmen have to get invloved and promote a plan to stop this nonsense,,,they have to get behind the Government to pass better Legislation to hand down stiffer MANDATORY sentences (life + 50) to people who commit these kinds of crimes,,,after all it is to their benefit to do so.

guyanagirl,,,did you read the full account of the incident?,,,SOME MEMBER OF THE DECEASED PARTY WAS ARMED AND FIRED A COUPLE OF BULLETS AT THE PERPS. For the life of me, we need to call for emergency legislation banning ALL WEAPONS in Guyana,,,, I’m telling you, nothing short of this is going to stem the rash of robberies and murders,,,,TAKE ALL THE GUNS AND PASS EMERGENCY LEGISLATION THAT CARRIES A MAXIMUM MANDATORY SENTENCE IF YOU ARE FOUND IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM. 20 years hard labor would be a start. Lets start by having an amnisty period for all citizens to turn in their legal/ illegal guns, then enact the legislation, the business cumminity needs to get involved in this, they can give food vouchers, and vouchers for goods and services to people turning in weapons or giving information about persons having these weapons in their possession, the Police commissioner already has the data base for the compilation of this information, and we can solve alot of past murders and past crimes. What you think readers,,,speak your minds, help me here…

Based on the preponderence of the evidence the prosecutor is able to assemble, and the defense,,,,,,it’s possible that they could walk if there are no eyewitnesses. This is not an open and shut case.

No, I disagree. Guyana’s economy and state of mind need people to at least help out. Business in Guyana is essential. They mentioned he was from the US and that he was a wholesaler; I’m sure that he brings back goods to Guyana to sell to the people for those who can afford. He takes his time out of his life to do this when he could be with his wife and two kids.

The killers should be put to the death sentence…capital punishment. An eye for an eye. Mr. Richardo had no right or reason to die; he was merely doing whats best for his life and his country.

Yes tukla,it is just the government of Guyana,there is terrible crime all over the world,but the Guyana situation is so odd,because the administration has no idea about fighting crime,so 90% of criminals are walking free,just take Roger Kahn who is in custody in NY,if he was’nt held by the US,he would have been living as a first class respected citizen in Guyana,rubbing shoulders with whoever he wants to rub shoulders with,I don’t know of anywhere else where things like that go on,do you?
