DHL Express is reorganising its operations in the USA in order to make international shipments from Latin America and the Caribbean to the US priority.

In a press release the company said it will focus entirely on international shipments resulting in the improved transit times and service levels for shipments to and from the US. It said international shipments to the US will continue to be delivered to all of the zip codes the company currently services, while export shipments will continue to be collected at almost unchanged levels relative to the current levels.

DHL said compared to today, 71% of all international shipments to and from major metropolitan areas will benefit from improved transit times while another 25% will not experience any changes. It said too the restructuring measures in the US affects only domestic and ground shipments delivered in the US.

According to the release the company is launching its DHL Economy Select product in 10 countries in Latin America. It will also be releasing a savings and rewards programme for customers who select these products and services for their shipments to the USA in 2009.
