Three men were arrested after police ranks discovered guns and ammunition in a hire car in a search operation at Aurora on the Essequibo Coast.
A police press release said that an unlicensed .32 Taurus revolver with six matching rounds and an unlicensed 9 mm Beretta pistol with six matching rounds were found when police stopped a car with three male passengers and executed a search around 12:10 hrs yesterday.
The men were arrested and investigations are continuing.
Meanwhile, the release added that one of the three men arrested is currently on bail for matters involving the unlawful possession of arms and ammunition, and is before the courts in Berbice and Georgetown.
He was charged with an offence in Berbice and was placed on bail. While on bail, he was charged in Georgetown with a similar offence and again placed on bail.

He was charged with an offence in Berbice and was placed on bail. While on bail, he was charged in Georgetown with a similar offence and again placed on bail.” One of the men have been arrested in all three counties for the same offence on three different occasions, now lets see if he is going to be bailed for the third time. These people must be dealt with in the harshest way under the laws of this country. Too many people are being killed by guns. I am waiting to see what is going to happen here and what some smart lawyer’s excuse is going to be.
it is not so much the “criminal lawyer’s ” plea ,, or his condonation ,, of the crime by appearing on behalf of this totally maladjusted person !…. but the decision of the person who sits on the “bench” to make the right decision ,, in light of the wholesale prevalence ,, of the prevailing crimes unfolding each and EVERY DAMN DAY ,,,, no less ! in the country !……………..
The other two have to be screened to see if they had brushes with the law, the other that’s on bail, hope not given again. Who are they, probably a band of criminals, hit men for hire, or they have wealth, and can’t get a weapon legally. Waiting to hear the follow-up!
Hey john the lawyer got to do his job, that’s why it’s a profession, and they get paid to do that. I hope these guys are brought before the courts and charged accordinly to the crime they commit.
guns ,guns every where, in aboundance and easy to aquire, the one who already was found with a weapon before should be intorogated thoroughly to find out where he was able to aquire yet another weapon, this might be a lead for the police to figure out where all the guns are comming from.
These were obviously on the way to commit a crime. Citizens are lucky.
This indeed is insulting to the guyanese public, my reason for saying so is I could not believe that this man was arrested in Berbice for unlawful possession of arms and ammunition and was place on bail again in Georgetown arrested for the same crime and place on bail and again in Essequibo for the same crime this man obviously has no respect for the laws and the authorities, what is wrong with the system in Guyana this man is a danger to society. He maybe one of the gang leaders, murder, crimes. Seriously speaking.
He should not been giving bail and the authorities should have investigate this man for him to be committing these crimes over and over again where did he got the guns and ammunition from but abviously I feel the authorities over look this.
Do your job to get these criminals off the streets.
I GIVE UP, ,,,,,No one has even bothered to respond to my comments for the banning of Firearms, Passing harsh legislation to provide mandatory sentencing for possession of firearms,,, Businessmen,, ,YOU ARE THE BAMAS OF THE WEEK,,,,Starting with 20 year sentence for a first time offence, and life for the second. So i guess this will continue until everybody gets murdered, and the country will then be taken over by people from the surrounding countries. I am also trying to understand the Guyanese love affair with guns, everyone wants to own a gun in Guyana, it represents POWER,,,,, it represents that you are somebody to be reckoned with, so,, let it continue,,,,kill each other and quick, in the meantime, i will spend my vacation elsewhere, and build my retirement home elsewhere, not in Guyana.
One of them was charge twice for similar offence , when is he going to learn, when they beat his behind ?
Then of course he’ll cry police brutality .
Put him in Brickdam lockup for a long period , best jail for him.
