Creavone Thorne, the woman whose decomposing body was found in a trench on Thursday, died as a result of manual strangulation.
Thorne, 26, of Lot 35 Lyng Street, Charlestown, was found in a trench along Thomas Lands on Thursday morning. A post-mortem examination was conducted on Thorne’s remains by Government Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh at the Georgetown Hospital mortuary yesterday.

Stabroek News was reliably informed that when the woman’s swollen body was found, what appeared to be a belt mark was visible around her neck, while a wound consistent with it being banged against a solid subject was evident at the back of her head.
Meanwhile, Thorne’s boyfriend, who was arrested hours after the gruesome discovery was made, remains in police custody. Police went to the house the couple shared and removed items belonging to the man yesterday. According to reports, the man was the last person to speak with Thorne.
At the house, relatives were still in shock and continued to question what might have led to Thorne’s tragic death. Several of her friends turned up and recalled their last moments with her.
They also reflected on her life, which they described as very outgoing.
Relatives had told Stabroek News that the Antigua-based woman was last seen on Monday night when she told a cousin that she was going “to mek a fine spin.” Her semi-nude body was already in a state of decomposition when it was fished out of the trench halfway between the African Cultural Development Association (ACDA) building and Albert Street, opposite the National Park. The spot was in a trench outside the Guyana Sports Club ground. This newspaper had incorrectly said that the body was found outside the Malteenos Sports Club Ground, which is actually located further up Thomas Lands.

Almost never do I hear of justice for women in Guyana.The men of Guyana in general, apart from a chosen few,are lacking in love for their women.The question I ask, is do they have any love for their mothers and sisters?It is rightful to say that they have no love for themselves.As a man I stand up for the dignity;of my guyanese women.I have a daughter;and my cry of rage and caution to any man, who in the future even thinks of hitting her,let him think again for the jails were not built for neither dogn or cats, and I will take my rightful place within.

Women are asserting themselves at all levels in society.
If you check the high ratio of women to men at any University, place of higher learning or church, you’ll see it is disproportionate to the population.
Conversely, if you check the percentage of men in jails, bars, etc,,,,,,,,,,, you’ll see what ours brothers are up to.
This is further compounded when women have travelled and exposed to more developed societies.
Our men folk need to understand that the dark ages of the housewife has ended,
and no amount of violence, can bring it back.
The men are the persons that really “need to change their lifestyle and seek the wisdom of THE MOST HIGH. GOD ALMIGHTY!!!!!”

Condolences to the Thorne family; whatever the circumstances it should not arrive to Death. Whoever did this should be brought to justice QUICK.
To all you negative men who think it is ok to beat and abruse women shame on you I quess you were not taught to love and respect women at home maybe Mr Birdman should teach you guy’s the lesson of manhood because you are all cowards and do not have a heart.
