Did the Ministry of Agriculture conduct tests of the proposed Bullnose Peppers to determine its viability, adapatibility and productivity locally. Why influence farmers to invest their time and energies in the Bullnose project without proper testing of the plants versatility.
Trial plots should have been planted and records documented to aid and inform of the viability when undertaking the abovementioned project.
Soil PH, moisture content, drainage coefficient, plant spacing (lateral and longitudinal), resistance to local pests etc. are parameters that require testing and documenting.

& our beloved comrade leader tells their is much room for investment in agriculture in Guyana. Unless he & his madministration can provide proper infrastructure, drains, roads, etc. only a TOTAL LUNATIC will pay them any attention.

Land of many waters. The Dutch had a very good irrigation system, unfortunately it was never maintained for decades. Instead of building bridges in villages, trenches and "four foot drains" are filled in. Yes you will have floods and all the diseases that come with it, for humans, plants and animals.

..... is anyone ,,, that is anyone who has an interest in GUYANA -- birth love is first love -- paying any attention to the fact that anything that has to do with agriculture in GY ,, is always in contention with floods caused by rains and mo' rains ??????

would it not make sense then to look for other areas where when the rains come ,, -- seems like all the time ,, every day ,, all de time -- there is little or no stagnation ,, which aids pests and all other disease related to farming in GY ,, i hardly see this decision ,, as being one that requires rocket science ,, tho ,, a lil bit never hurts !.....

Was a little disappinted with Sunday's before last paper, I thought it contained more ads than articles. I was happy to see in last Sunday's Stabroek there was more content, but still too many ads and I missed the letters.
