The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) says that a Kaieteur News report on the death of the three pirates, who were shot dead at Cromarty, Corentyne wrongly attribute appointments to them “to which they were never entitled while alive”.

A press release from the GDF said that on the second page of last Saturday’s edition of the Kaieteur News, it was stated that “One of the dead bandits has been positively identified as James Gibson, a former GDF officer…”  The article continued, the release said “…Another bandit was positively identified as Cliff Chichester… a former cadet officer…”

The army asserted that Gibson was dismissed from the force for failing to meet the required standards on the Army’s Standard Officer’s Course, while Chichester was a Lance Corporal, who was dismissed for stealing from the GDF.

These fellas were never good enough to be in the GDF so the army is just making that clear. Its easier when u are a failure to get respect by taking it than working or asking for it.

if you can’t tek heat stay out of the kitchen,sf is a better man than most he takes daily abuse from bloggers without even hitting back some of these very persons would be peeing in there pants if they were face to face, blame game is played everyday unless you are a share holder in the ppp why worry,i am sure there are pnc supporters that blog here i don’t see them getting upset,or apologizing for the pnc,it is laughable sometime to see some asinine comments made by ppp supporters, blaming the pnc for jonestown, the state of the present economy, the rate of murders, even, the weather, onder the pnc, everyone had jobs or the opportunity of a job lots of young people had the choice of the police force the army,ns,gpm, the bauxite industry, public service, etc.etc, had the benefit of joining the gpf,but now what choices do they have guysuco employs selectively, guess what crime or migration is the only option for some some will say fetch water, chop wood, plant gardens, why should i have other people’s choices, secondly with so many cxc why should i do manual labour until the government can address these and other issues they will get blamed rightly or wrongly it is something you have to live with thats life tough luck ,oh yes before i leave, people claimed that they migrated because the hardships suffered under the pnc.from 1992 the rate of migration has increased specifically from the ppp support base who to blame, desmond hoyte or burnham, corbin i would like to know.

You call being a member of the GDF, GPF , “A VERY GOOD JOB”,? is this your idea of a joke?, a bike messenger in New York pays better, and has better benefits, but i won’t call that a good job either.

  4. SWAT UNITED STATES says:

Thanks for the timely clarification GDF, on the true status of these dead punks. They were a disgrace to the uniform they once wore, and they do not need to be mentioned in the same vain as the men and women, past and present, currently serving in uniform and are doing such an outstanding job.

    • LINDENBANNA UNITED STATES says:

So true, so why even clarify their tenure,,,,is it that the GDF has petty leadership, or would rather wait until you die to “OUT” their ex ranks.

  5. I AGREE WITH THE ARMY, WHEN A RANK IS FOUND TO BE DISHONEST AND UNRELIABLE HE NEEDS TO BE DISCIPLINE OR FIND HIS WAY OUT

    • Kaieteur Gold UNITED STATES says:

So, what should happen when the constitutional rights of a people of a country are being trampled upon? Like those of eligible Guyanese voters living overseas, help to keep their families in Guyana stay alive through remittances, the barrel economy… and are denied the rights to vote for candidates of their choice at general elections in Guyana like was the case under the L. F. S. Burnham Administration. How about the security forces in Guyana (particularly the GDF) explaining how is it that the recently re-activated U. S. Fourth Fleet has to do the job of policing against certain illegal activities out of Guyana and other neighboring countries while the U. S. Courts do the prosecuting when this should be done at the national level. And, as far as the Guyana Police Force and certain Government offices are concerned – can you explain the rationale’ for the U. S. Visa restrictions some time ago and we are here talking about “disciplining” other folks.

  8. fineman cousin GERMANY says:

would the gdf give the profile and the reason why a certain officer was cashiered from the army, this man was later implicated in a criminal organization that killed people, who opposed his organization, and also supplied weapons to know felons who he consorted with,or is it a gdf thing when person leave the army under a cloud they turn to nefarious activities, sandhurst first being the exception………awaiting reply not holding my breath though.

    • Arnold VENEZUELA says:

Don’t know about that “certain officer” what I do know is some of those slain were army incompetents/thieves who were kicked out.

    • LINDENBANNA UNITED STATES says:

fineman cousin ,,,,,Everyone is dropping dimes on each other and you are holding your breath and wasting good ink;…..just go ahead and “OUT” the individual, SandHurst First got “OUTED” today,,,whose next,,so go ahead.

like i said before i knew gibson while attending the university of guyana and it just came to me that i also knew chichester he and i were cadets in the army in 2000.they had bright futures what or who had motivatedch them to do the things they were caught doing.chichester was more the tough type but i,m really surprised at gibson,i would have doubted all if he wasnt caught in action.what a waste of human resources………u make children but not their minds..take that as comfort family members…
