The Minister’s actions were uncalled for

Dear Editor,

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for the exemplary work done by members of your staff in reporting the lawless behaviour of Mr Kellawan Lall. I have been keeping abreast of this story and I am aware of the recent threat of litigation by the minister. I encourage you in the name of the free press to pursue this matter until the end.

The people of Guyana need leaders that are honourable and not bullies. Clearly the minister’s actions on that fateful evening were uncalled for and just a show of false bravado. No upstanding member of any democratic society would behave in such a manner and he should be made to pay.

Our people should be protesting this grave abuse of power instead they are trapped in that timeless Guyanese game of trying to feed your family no matter the cost. Sadly, as the years go by it seems as if the price of this basic human need is becoming more expensive; yet hope lives on.

Yours faithfully,

Nadira Ramudit
