Special constables haven’t got their overtime

Dear Editor,

Ranks that work with the special constabulary are not properly paid. They work long hours and are not paid for the extra hours. Overtime is due to us since 2006.

Ranks at Timehri worked long hours during the World Cup and the Summit, 12 hours and 16 hours, and didn’t get paid for it. We are entitled to two days off which were not given to us by our officer.

The Special Constabulary has a shortage of ranks because of small wages so people don’t want to join and ranks have to work long hours. Last December the President gave out one month tax free extra salary to all joint services, we didn’t get the whole month.

Ranks are asking the Minister of Home Affairs to address this situation urgently.

Yours faithfully,

(name and address supplied)
