Today in England more than 17,000 policemen and women went on a protest march in central London to protest their government’s refusal to honour the arbitration award in relation to their salary increases. Both the police and government had agreed to abide by the arbitration award, but the British Government reneged.
Now the police want to ballot their members in March to decide whether to vote to go on strike. The police right now will abide by the law but are very annoyed with the way they have been treated. They are not afraid of the government to voice their disapproval in the strongest terms. In fact the Police have called for the resignation of the Home Affairs Secretary.
Could this happen in Guyana?
