How can the diplomats call for confidence in the security forces

The EU, UK, US and Canadian Heads of Mission advised that, “there should be some level of confidence in the country’s security forces”. This is a baseless statement against the evidence of past performance.

The police never arrived at Rose Hall, even though every law enforcement officer in East Berbice is twenty minutes away. The police never arrived at Canje even through New Amsterdam Central is three minutes away.

The Police never arrived at LBI, when Satyadeo Sawh and his family were massacred even though the shots were heard at Sparendaam Police Station. There was no road block, no cordon, and no ambush even though one of the PPP’s own was slaughtered.

Shiraz Ally, who travelled from Essequibo, arrived at Agricola before any policeman.

At Lusignan the police never arrived until one hour had passed, even though the shots were heard at Vigilance Police Station. The Police never set up a road block, never established a cordon, never set up an ambush even though there is only one way in and one way out.

When Dev Sharma was kidnapped, his wife immediately telephoned the police, yet he reached Buxton without a single road block being set up.
