This road is impassable, miners are suffering

Dear Editor,

Miners in Region No 2 that use the Onderneeming road/interior trail, that takes them into the interior, to gain access to Barama Road are appealing to the minister to look at the road and have it repaired.

The road is widely used and is now impassable. Miners have to use private boats to take fuel to Buck Hall at a cost of $45,000 per hire and this is too costly. Lots of trucks cannot drive on the road.

It is suggested that the authorities can borrow equipment from the Region No 2 administration and from Barama company, to have the road fixed.

Previously Barama used to maintain the Supenaam crossing over road, where they had sales arrangements with two forest concessionaires.

Prime Minister this is an urgent situation, many livelihoods depend on mining. The road could be fixed quickly.

Yours faithfully,

JT Allert
