How can Mr Kissoon compare Jagdeo to Burnham?

Dear Editor,
Frederick Kissoon a regular writer in the Kaieteur News always writes that this government is worse than Burnham governing, calling this government, under President Jagdeo, an elected dictatorship.

Frederick Kissoon, under this PPP/C government, is enjoying full freedom, including press freedom. That enables him to attack the President, members of the government, supporters of the party and anybody who dares to support this government and does not share his views.
Frederick Kissoon knows that he would not usually be taken to court for libelling people in his daily columns. Kissoon is certain that he would not be beaten and thrown in the lock up as happened under the Burnham administration. He is free to support any political party, strike and demonstrate. Kissoon knows what happened under Burnham.

Had Burnham been alive and ruling I doubt whether Kissoon would have been lecturing at the University of Guyana. Kissoon knows that Burnham refused Rodney a job at the university and eventually finished him off. Many other lecturers had to quit their jobs at the University including Insanally and Paul Tennassee.

It is under this government that Kissoon got a house lot and built a top class house in the area of his choice, that is, near the seawall. This was so despite the low salary he works for at the University as he often complains. Under this government Kissoon got a duty concession to purchase a Rav 4.

Kissoon attacks Indians because they voted for the PPP/C government. He voted for the Alliance For Change whose leader was a former member of the People’s National Congress and who was with Hoyte marching after Hoyte lost the 1997 elections to Janet Jagan.

I don’t know how Mr Kissoon can make this comparison.
Yours faithfully,
Baldeo Persaud
