Dear Editor,

The only thing that seems to dominate Guyanese news is death and despair. What can we celebrate after achieving forty-two years as an independent nation? Nothing of significance that demonstrates any socio-economic progress. The people of Guyana are still poor and consequently the moral decay is disheartening.

Where will we be in the next forty years? Maybe we will be rid of the clutches of racial politics that benefit the political elites; this I hope and pray for……
