Dear Editor,

The letter ‘Are all Bai Shan Lin’s containers inspected daily to ensure squared logs are not being exported?’ published in SN on July 5 and written by Ms Janette Bulkan causes one to raise the question of the real motives of Ms Bulkan, particularly since the main point of the letter is not factual. Certainly a check with the Guyana Forestry Commission would have satisfied her curiosity.

The letter speaks of the operations of Demerara Timbers Ltd (DTL) at Mabura and the movement of sealed containers from that location.

We wish to point out that the operations of DTL are not connected to Bai Shan Lin and we have never been involved in the movement of containers from Mabura to Georgetown.

Yours faithfully,
Chu Hongbo
General Manager
Bai Shan Lin
