Dear Editor,

One letter captioned ‘Many countries use the Bell 206’ written by Mr D Persaud in the SN (24.7.08) caught my attention.

None of these air forces that Mr Persaud mentioned have the Bell 206 in a primary role.  This helicopter continues to serve them in a secondary role.  There is nothing wrong with the Bell 206 serving in a secondary role in any military or police force.

In Guyana, the Bell 206 is a primary member of the GDF Air Corps, a role it is clearly not suited for. The mechanical problems that have started to occur are bringing to life my private fears.  However, being forever a devoted optimist, I continue to hope that these machines will serve the people of Guyana and hopefully one day they will be able to recover the investment.

Yours faithfully,
Sasenarine Singh
