Gratified by quick repair of koker

Dear Editor,

I am a resident at Peter’s Hall on the East Bank of Demerara and I pen this letter on behalf of the residents to express our thanks for the prompt response by the Ministry of Agriculture and its agencies to rectify the koker in our area that was damaged.

Pandemonium broke out when residents learnt of the broken koker, but this was eased with the immediate presence of the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority and Guysuco to rectify the damage.

We would also like to commend the Minister of Agriculture for his quick response and for ensuring works were expedited.

In the end, a new koker door was constructed and installed in a timely manner, much to the delight of residents. In addition, I would also like to highlight that a team of officers from the Ministry of Agriculture was promptly deployed to our area to render assistance to those who had plants and animals.

Meanwhile, some residents suffered minimal losses but we are pleased with the response by the relevant agencies and their collaborative approach to avoid a major disaster.

Yours faithfully,
Rajpat Singh
