There seems to be a disconnect between Guyanese behaviour and government attempts to build and maintain a measure of progress.  Fires caused by public mischief or negligence, vandalism, poor maintenance of valuable equipment and poor attitudes affect progress and public morale. Sugar workers must learn the difference between low pay and no pay, a shift from 15 to 14 ½ per cent is not a compromise.

Perhaps, a profit sharing/ bonus plan should be considered.  Guyanese must recognise there are consequences to every action, and think before acting. The President must demand more accountability from ministers, public servants and security officials on apparent failures in government services and responsibilities.  The absence of timely official information leads to hearsay and speculation in the press, further  damaging  the public confidence in government.
