Dear Editor,

I read your very interesting editorial of Sunday, August 17, titled ‘Strategic mistake’ and was struck by the statement, “there was simply no logic to it.”

How innocent the Presi-dent of Georgia must be.  To me, the US administration performed the niftiest piece of political footwork I’ve seen for a very long time.  Senator McCain must be a very happy man indeed.

He has now been given a chance to shine.  Wayne Brown’s latest article on ‘The race for the White House’ sums it up perfectly for me.
