Low water pressure in Kingston

Dear Editor,

The residents of Kingston, Georgetown, have been suffering from prolonged extremely low water pressure.

When the old well on Battery Road was in operation, we used to get water upstairs. Now, since the new well was drilled by the Trinidadian company, Sadhna, the residents of Kingston have been suffering. At one time, the Guyana Water Incorporated had given the lame excuse that mains were being broken by other heavy-duty workers in the area. Those  works are now over and ‘Kingstoners’ still have low water pressure.
Can GWI Chief Executive Officer Karan Singh, Minister of Water Harry Narine Nawbatt, and President Jagdeo come clean and let us know what is going on.

Welcome back to the days of fetching buckets of water upstairs each day.

A number of Kingston residents who had planned to have Bed and Breakfast operations for Carifesta have had to shelve plans because guests will not come to places with low water pressure.

Yours faithfully,
Trevor Van Nooten.

Editor’s note
We are sending a copy of this letter to GWI Chief Executive Officer Karan Singh for any comments he may wish to make.
