Dear Editor,
Despite a lengthy absence from Guyana I have never lost my love of country nor my kinship with all people and things Guyanese.

Over a period of more than forty years I have endeavoured to instil in all of my children the feeling of being Guyanese in addition to love of the country of their birth.  They are now at the point at which they wish to see for themselves the reality of some of the places that I have imprinted in their minds and, as a result, they will be attending the upcoming Carifesta celebrations.

As this will be the first real opportunity for me to obtain some Guyanese literature that I have not been able to get locally, I have asked my children to obtain for me copies of anything that was written by Sheik Shadeek and Godfrey Chin.

My embarrassment is that I cannot tell them where in Guyana they can obtain the works as I am sure many, if not all of the outlets that I knew are no longer in existence.
Yours faithfully,
Richard Lewis

Editor’s note
Various books are to be launched during Carifesta, and a book launch schedule is available from the Carifesta Secretariat, among other places. The book fair at the National Park will be open from Saturday, August 23 to August 30. Austin’s Bookstore on Church Street, among other stores, has local titles in stock.
