The recent passage of legislation outlawing the playing of music in hire cars/taxis and  minibuses was most welcome and lauded by members of the public. However, Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee has since come out of this process with egg on his face because the operators of public transportation are again increasingly playing loud music in their vehicles. This failure is a result of them refusing to comply with the law and the Guyana Police Force under the leadership of Commissioner (ag) Henry Greene, failing to enforce the law, which is even violated by buses and cars outside police stations.
