A keen journalist

Dear Editor,
Please allow me, on behalf of the Georgetown Municipality, my family, and on my own behalf, to express sincere condolences to the immediate family and relatives of Ms Alika Jacobs who lost her life in that tragic accident on Saturday evening, while on duty.

We regret the passing of Alika; she was always a very pleasant and dedicated reporter, among the best of a young group of journalists, keen and intelligent. She will be greatly missed in the media fraternity, and by me.

Akila was always in a hurry to extract a statement from me, on any matter, be it municipal or political. I recall once after a piercing interview, we agreed that she be allowed to offer a tribute when I departed this mortal plain, little suspecting that young as she was, she would precede me into the great beyond.
My best wishes are extended to those injured for their speedy recovery.
Again to the family and friends we convey our deepest condolences.
Yours faithfully,
Hamilton Green, JP
Mayor
