A historic victory

Dear Editor,
We are extremely delighted to learn that Senator Barack Obama has been elected the 44th President of the United States of America. I have the distinct honour, on behalf of the citizens of Georgetown, my wife Jennifer, family and myself, to ask US Ambassador, Mr John Jones, to extend to President-elect Obama our sincere congratulations and good wishes for his health, happiness and a successful tenure in office.

The result of the US elections is a clear manifestation of the voters’ immense confidence in the course he has chosen and his vision for the well-being of America, and indeed the world.
I am convinced that under his leadership and that of the Democratic Party, the United States of America will advance towards national cohesion and with equal fervour secure global peace, which for too long has eluded successive generations.

Under Mr Obama’s astute leadership rests the great responsibly in leading our world towards a moral and spiritual revival. Our world is in desperate need of this to repair the damaged fabric of relationships that exist between the world religions, and to secure those core values that can bind all the people of the world and provide the basis for global harmony.
Once again heartiest congratulations on this historic victory.
Yours faithfully,
Hamilton Green, JP,
Mayor of Georgetown
