When Christopher Columbus set sail across the Atlantic, he discovered the West Indies. He had some very interesting stories to tell the King and Queen.

History seems to repeat itself. We now have just learnt that another ‘Columbus’ has made some interesting and ‘criminal’ discoveries at the Harbour Bridge. He then paddled his canoe and stopped at GPL, which is also accessible by water, and stumbled upon yet another discovery. Maybe it is not a discovery as such, because we know each year at this time GPL engages in preparation for the expected high at the Xmas season.

Now while we may survive some short periods of no electricity – although still a high light bill − we cannot survive without water.
So, Columbus must come ashore and walk around to GWI to explore why we are not getting quality water, quantity water and water fit for human consumption.

The PRO claimed at first that it was owing to frequent blackouts and repair/maintenance work that GWI could not provide adequate water to consumers. He also said later that it was because of the non-arrival of alum that water was in short supply.

I hope Mr Columbus discovered at last what the truth is and the real story. Water is a very lucrative business; one litre of water costs more than a litre of gasoline.

Perhaps the CEO wants people to be physically fit. That would indeed be commendable, so all those who reside in upper flats should fetch water. It is good exercise and good to allow more people to enter the water business.  And more people will enter the water business because GWI continues to pump ‘gummy-brown’ water for residents to consume.

Sail on Columbus, sail, and ram into the big ship that is sailing away with a lot of hard-earned taxpayers’ money.
