The Joint Services have been given deserved praise

Dear Editor,
The Joint Services have and are coming in for a lot of deserved recognition and praise by many for their prompt and successful response to the heist of a $ 17.2 million Guysuco payroll, which was recovered.
Their response was massive, well-organised and competently directed which resulted in the apprehension of the entire gang, with the shooting to death of some in armed confrontations.

There can be no doubt that the general public of law-abiding citizens is totally pleased with this latest success by the crime-fighting agencies.
What has emerged also is that several of the criminals involved were also implicated in a number of other crimes – murders, rapes and other robberies. The successful actions by the Joint Services are removing a number of dangerous criminals from circulation in the society, resulting in the greater engendering of  a feeling of increased safety and security in the minds of the general public.

The President and government, over the years, embarked on a process of improving the professionalism of the forces, with the support and assistance of several overseas law-enforcement agencies, as well as governments, and with the cooperation and collaboration of ranks and officers. Tremendous resources have been invested – financial, technical, logistical, training and human resources – and the increasing anti-crime successes underline that these investments and efforts have been bringing the desired results.
Yours faithfully,
John Da Silva
