With the reduction in the gas prices minibuses should not be allowed to exploit passengers

Dear Editor,
It is absolutely outrageous what these minibus drivers, hire-car drivers and speedboat operators are doing to the poor people of Guyana! It has been more than two weeks now since the price for gasoline has been reduced and yet these people continue to exploit their fellow Guyanese. Do the owners of public transportation have no conscience? Have they forgotten that Guyana is a poor country and its citizens have to work laboriously in order to earn a living, or are they so preoccupied with counting their daily earnings that they don’t realize they are exploiting their fellow men?
It’s extremely mortifying to know that certain sections of the Guyanese society can be so avaricious!  I am kindly urging the Minister responsible to bring the situation under control immediately and stop this exploitation displayed by these inconsiderate people.
Yours faithfully,
A Persaud
