Dear Editor,
About two to three weeks back I read in one of the daily newspapers, that the minibus fares are to drop with immediate effect.  However, commuters are forced to pay the higher fares.

Can the Minister of Industry and Commerce, along with the President of the Guyana Minibus Association, tell us what fares commuters should really pay?  It is somewhat surprising that the minibus association had printed a document stating the new fare hikes, but until now I’m unable to see any document in any minibus showing the reduction in fares.

As a commuter, I’m forced to change my money to get the exact fare to pay these minibus operators, otherwise I have to pay the higher fare.  I have also observed that many commuters are not aware of the reduction in fares.

So please, Mr Minister and President of the Guyana Minibus Association, please let us know what the minibus fare really is, otherwise whenever there is another increase in the fares, we would have to pay the new higher fares plus the increase.  We need some sort of documentation from the minibus association showing the fare structure.
Yours faithfully,
(Name and address
