Mr Corbin cannot win an election

Dear Editor,

I write from Linden Region 10 in relation to the continued debate over the performance of the Opposition Leader, Mr Robert Corbin.

I am one of the residents here who served with Mr Corbin during the day of the YSM in Linden. I supported his coming to the head of the party due to his tenure of service at the grassroots level, but I must submit that Mr Corbin has failed the party, Linden and Guyana.

Mr Corbin represents a growing breed of local leaders who cannot perform in the big league. He  has failed to present any form of plan or programme for economic and social change within Guyana. Once in the office of the Opposition he turned his back on his support base. Linden fared worst. Except for a few visits, Mr Corbin was virtually absent from Region 10.
There is a perception that Mr Corbin made agreements with Jagdeo that the country and his supporters have no details of.

Mr Corbin visited Wismar and held a meeting at the then St Aidan’s School where he promised television access for residents here. This was all we heard from him.

Mr Corbin must be aware that he cannot win an election. My sympathy goes out to him because he seems to fail to see and analyse his own failure. I wish that he would depart quietly as one sees no future under Mr Jagdeo with Mr Corbin accommodating Mr Jagdeo.

Yours faithfully,
Pauly Sandy
