The Amateur Athletics Association of Guyana is to set a new date for the staging of the National Club Relay championships, according to one of the organizers.

The event was scheduled to take place yesterday at the Eve Leary ground but has been postponed indefinitely because of inclement weather during the past week.

Lynden Wilson, one of the organizers told Stabroek Sport that the event was postponed because a portion of the Eve Leary ground was waterlogged.

Wilson also said that marking of the ground was disrupted by the rain and although there had been sunshine on Saturday, the ground still remained damp up to late in the afternoon.

The AAG will be announcing a new date for the event in the near future.

Last year’s championships was similarly postponed and then subsequently held two Sundays afterwards with the Progressive Youth Club (Police) emerging as the eventual champions.
